Last Saturday, people from the environmental and labor movement
met in Dattel to protest on World Climate Day
for the preservation of jobs and against the operation of the DATTELN IV coal-fired power plant.
Many speeches clearly demonstrated that this is not a contradiction in terms.



Environmental activists from Datteln were also invited,
especially the Datteln initiative "Datteln 4 Stoppen wir".

"Unfortunately we did not get a response from the Dattelner Initiative,"
reported a co-organizer of the demo at the final rally.

In addition to the environmental union,
initiatives such as "No Monstertrasse" from Hagen
and the miners' initiative Kumpel for AUF were represented.

In a speech, a representative from "No Monsterstrasse"
described why a newly planned power line in Hohenlimburg
is not a contribution to climate protection,
but a contribution to the use of electricity
from the blood coal-fired power plant in Datteln.

A representative of the "People, Environment, Animal Welfare" party (Partei "Mensch, Umwelt, Tierschutz" )
spoke during the demonstration, and the local election alliances AUF Gelsenkirchen
and BergAuf from Bergkamen were also represented.
Yes, and of course the MLPD and the youth organization Rebell were also there.

A report from a demo in Glasgow was broadcast live from Glasgow at the launch rally.

With over 130 permanent participants,
the rally did not exceed the expectations
of the applicants, who had registered 200 participants.

Nevertheless, a spokesman and registrant of the demonstration
expressed satisfaction at the end of the demonstration,
because many people from Datteln were addressed.

Some could be won as new comrades-in-arms.
This makes it possible to found a new local branch
of the environmental union in Datteln, which does not yet exist.
